Estimating Party Walls and Subfloor

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software handles measurements for party walls, subflooring and drywall demolition.

Party Walls

If you are working on a multi-unit townhouse or row house project, you may need to handle the party walls between units with fireproof materials, soundproofing or other special materials.

Enter party wall quantities into two fields:

  • Party Wall Length-- Enter the total length of all newly framed party walls, in lineal feet. In a multi-story project, take the sum of the length of all party walls on all floors.
  • Party Wall Area-- Enter the total surface area of all party walls, in square feet. In a multi-story project, take the sum of the area of all party walls on all floors. If you are working on both sides of a party wall, add up the area of each side.

NOTE: If you lock this field, it will use the Party/Contact Wall lengths from the Basic Dimensions cards (or zero if the construction type is Remodeling).

Subfloor

Enter the total square footage of new plywood, chipboard or lumber subflooring that will be installed or replaced in the construction project. Do not include finished floor materials such as hardwood or softwood strip flooring.

Drywall Demolition

Enter the total square footage of drywall that will be gutted and removed from existing portions of the project.
