Estimating Soffits & Pass-Throughs

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Soffits and Pass-Throughs

Soffits above cabinets or around air ducts or other utilities should not affect any dimensions in BidMagic, except perhaps the number of interior corners. The additional labor to frame soffits can be put into Other Framing on the Miscellaneous Framing card in Specifications.

Pass-throughs and other small openings in the wall do reduce the amount of wallboard slightly, but generally it is not worth the trouble to adjust interior wall area for them. The labor of framing them can be entered into Other Framing on the Miscellaneous Framing card in Specifications. Caps and other trim can be entered into Other Trim on the Interior Trim card.
