Estimating Demolition

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Use the Demolition card to enter project demolition into the BidMagic construction estimating software. You'll usually use this card for remodeling and gut/rehab construction projects, but you can also use it if you are a demolition contractor, and only want to estimate the cost of construction demolition.

Construction Demolition Costs

The Construction Demolition card covers the cost of any demolition for additions, gut/rehab and remodeling projects.

Demolition--Surfaces covers the stripping of wallboard, plaster, siding, roofing, flooring and other surface materials.

NOTE: The demolition unit prices that come with BidMagic include demolition and hauling of materials to a dumpster or other container. They do not include the cost of the dumpster itself (see page 327).

Demolition--Structures includes the demolition of masonry, as well as floor, wall and roof framing removal.

Other Demolition includes any other demolition such as the removal of windows and doors.

NOTE: If you are salvaging materials for reuse, you'll probably need to increase the demolition unit prices considerably, since much more care needs to be taken then.
