Entering Construction Quantities

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Using the Construction Quantity Buttons

To add a new construction quantity to a new or existing formula in the BidMagic estimating software, click one of the buttons at upper right, and select an item from the pop-up menu (or in some cases, from a submenu listing more detailed choices).

For example, to base the cost of contract preparation on the net project area, follow these steps:

  1. Click Clear Formula to erase the current formula.
  2. Click the Finish button and hold down the mouse button.
  3. Choose Finished Floor Areas from the main menu, then choose Net from the submenu. NetFloorArea will be entered into the formula.

BidMagic uses short 'words' to represent each construction quantity. When you choose a construction quantity, the name of the quantity will be entered directly. If entering the name alone would not create a legitimate formula, an addition sign (+) will be placed before the quantity name.

The dimension names are grouped into buttons that correspond to the different Dimensions cards. For a complete listing of all dimension names, see page 428.
