Basic Estimating Dimensions |
NOTE: For a remodeling project, skip to the next section, since this card won 't be used. Use the Basic Dimensions card to enter number of stories, number of rooms, floor areas, wall lengths, and other basic project measurements. Stories Enter the number of stories that will actually be worked on as a part of the construction project. For new construction, enter the number of stories in the project. For an addition, enter the number of stories in the addition. For a gut/rehab project, enter the number of stories to be gutted and redone. Exclude the basement (whether finished or unfinished) and any unfinished attics. One Story Two Stories In a stepped ranch, consider everything to be one story even though the floor may be at different levels. In a split level, enter the maximum number of stories that are 'stacked' in one place. The split level can then be considered as an extension of one of the other stories. NOTE: In both a stepped ranch and a split level, BidMagic will suggest too few stairways. You'll need to enter the correct number of stairs on the Miscellaneous Dimensions card. Each stairway will also cost about half as much, since it is half as long! If the project contains more than three stories, the additional stories will be considered to be duplicates of the third story. See page 355 for more about the handling of projects with more than three stories.
