Estimating Concrete

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

BidMagic construction estimating software includes a wide range of unit costs for concrete forming and placement, that you can use when estimating the cost of concrete construction.

Concrete Estimating

For both footings and walls there are also 'one-step' unit prices for a few common sizes, that you can use when estimating concrete construction costs. For those items, all costs are included in a single line item.

EXAMPLE: One-step unit prices are included for 8x16 footings and 8 inch foundation walls, among other items.

Beams & Steps covers the cost of concrete columns, support beams and steps.

NOTE: Foundation grade beams can be considered as footings under Concrete Walls (see preceding section).

Several unit prices are included in the 'stock' price book. Since the price of beams and steps can vary enormously depending on the detailing, you'll often need to create your own new unit prices for new items.
Concrete Slabs covers the cost of concrete floor slabs whether outdoors, in the basement, as a first floor slab-on-grade, or in an above-grade upper story.

Several of the line items in this section use 'two step' pricing that will cover any slab thickness. Select both prices to cover the full cost of a concrete slab. One price is per square foot of slab, covering reinforcing mesh and finishing labor. The second price is per cubic yard of concrete--covering the concrete material and placement costs. The concrete volume is figured for you automatically, based on the slab thickness on the Foundation Dimensions card.

Concrete Accessories includes pigments, admixtures, and any other concrete accessories.

Other Concrete includes unit prices for patching concrete. This is also a convenient place to put any additional concrete costs.
