BidMagic 1.5 Improvements

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

BidMagic 1.5 adds a few other improvements.

• The BidMagic construction estimating software now supports balloon help for menu commands, for System 7 users. To see a brief description of what each menu command does, turn on balloon help by choosing Show Balloons from the Help menu, then move the mouse over the name of the menu command in the menu bar.
• On the Basic Costs card, you are no longer limited to 100% for fudge factors.
• You can now enter negative numbers for overhead, profit, and contingencies on the overhead card. This may be useful when bidding very competitively, in situations where you are willing to lose money.
• You can now use the Print Card commands in the Unit Price Editor and the Formula Editor.
• In the Flooring specifications card, you can now hold the mouse down on the number of unallocated square feet, to see the that quantity measured in square yards.
• Hold down the Option key and click on the name of any item in Specifications, to see its calculated cost. The raw construction cost of the item will be displayed, as well as the final cost with profit, overhead, and other soft costs factored in.
• The Bottom Line card now allows you to set the number of skilled or unskilled workers to zero.
•  The project area on the Bottom Line card is now based on the total floor area of the project, rather than the finished floor area.
