Basic Dimensions

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

If you chose New Construction, Addition or Gut/Rehab as a construction choice, click the Right Arrow button to move from the Dimensions directory card to Basic Dimensions. If you chose Remodeling, skip to the Rooms cards, since the Basic Dimensions card will not be used.

NOTE: To get to Basic Dimensions, you can also choose Dimensions from the Navigate menu, then click the Basics button at the bottom of the Dimension card. Another way to get there--click on the Compass button and choose Dimensions, then choose Basics from the submenu.

Use the Basic Dimensions card to enter the number of stories, number of rooms, floor areas, wall lengths, and other basic project measurements.

Stories

Enter the total number of stories to be worked on. Don't include basements or unfinished attics.
If the project includes a full or partial basement, turn on the Basement button, then select whether the basement will be finished or not.

Number of Rooms

In the upper right part of the card, enter the number of bedrooms, kitchens and baths that will be worked on as part of the project. Also turn on the buttons for any other rooms that will be included.

Walls and Areas

At the bottom of the card, enter the floor area, length of exterior, interior and party walls, and ceiling height for each story in the project.
