Adding and Changing Unit Costs

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software allows you to modify the unit prices that are stored for each cost category. You can add, delete or change any unit prices.

If you'd like to add new prices to BidMagic, or change the ones you have, follow these steps:

  1. Click on any pop-up button in the subcategory you'd like to change.
  2. Choose Edit Unit Prices from the bottom of the menu. It will take you to the Unit Price Editor.

To change an existing unit price, click on its name in the list on the left side of the card, then change any of the values on the right side of the card.

To add a new unit price, click on the New Item button, then type information about the new unit price into the fields on the right side of the card.

To change the 'suggested' quantity, labor adjustment or material adjustment, click on the Edit buttons at lower right, then use the Formula Editor.

Once you have finished making changes in the Unit Price Editor, click Save and Return.

NOTE: To return to BidMagic without saving any changes, click Cancel instead.

For more detailed instructions about the Unit Price Editor, see pages 257-271.
