Using Material Take-offs |
NOTE-- We replaced MacNail with the improved Goldenseal construction software back in 2000. However, we still keep the MacNail manuals online, for die-hard users! Goldenseal provides accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction project scheduling. It runs on Macintosh and Windows computers, and includes a networking version. You'll use the Bill of Materials reports from Goldenseal, similarly to how you'd use Material Takeoff files in MacNail. Using Material Takeoffs Most of the materials in the takeoff list are already in "purchase" quantities in the MacNail project management software. For example, 4x8 sheets for gypsum wallboard and plywood, rolls for felt paper, and 50 lb. boxes for nails. The purchase unit size is listed at far right, for each item in the takeoff list. NOTE: We already include a waste factor in the takeoff quantities, so don't add another one yourself! You may want to under-order slightly if your crew is careful with materials. |
