NOTE-- Goldenseal construction
software replaced MacNail back in 2000. We still keep this online
manual, to assist die-hard MacNail users! The Goldenseal computer software
program runs on Macintosh and Windows. It includes accounting, construction
estimating, and project
management, plus simple project
scheduling. Macintosh System Requirements
Before beginning with the MacNail construction scheduling software, check
to make sure you have the correct hardware and software to run it.
*
System Software: For best results, you should have the latest version of System and Finder installed
on your hard disk. You can usually get a free copy of the latest system software from your local dealer or User's
Group.
*
RAM: RAM MacNail requires at least one megabyte of RAM (random access memory). memory You can use
a Mac Plus, a Mac SE, a Mac LC, any Mac II, or an SE/30. You can also use any older Macintosh (128, 512, or 512E) that
has been upgraded to a Mac Plus.
NOTE: If you are using Excel version 2.2 or greater, we strongly recommend that you have a minimum of
two megabytes of RAM (see page 137).
*
Hard Disk: Disk DrivesMacNail requires a hard disk of any size. We recommend a 40 megabyte hard disk
as a minimum. 60 to 100 megabyte hard disks are not much more expensive, and the extra space will nearly always be
worth the extra cost.
*
Excel: The MacNail project management software requires that you have a copy of Microsoft Excel loaded onto
your hard disk. MacNail 3.0 will only run successfully under Excel version 1.5 or greater. If you
are using Excel 1.0, 1.03, 1.04 or 1.06, you will
need to get an upgrade directly from Microsoft-- call (206) 882-8088.
Windows System Requirements
Before beginning with the MacNail construction scheduling software, check to make sure you have
the correct hardware and software to run it.
*

Microsoft Windows and extended memory. For best results, your computer should have at least a 80286 processor,
and a clock speed of at least 16 megahertz.
*
RAM: RAM MacNail requires at least two megabytes of internal memory (also known as RAM). Microsoft
Windows is very memory-intensive, and you may want to install four megabytes of RAM to avoid future memory
shortages.
*
Hard Drive: Disk DrivesMacNail requires a hard disk of any size. We recommend a 40 megabyte
hard disk as a minimum. Choose 60 megabytes or larger if possible-- large hard disks are not much more
expensive than smaller ones.

all operations go much easier. It will let you take much better advantage of the friendlier "graphic
interface" that is provided by Windows and Excel.
*

your Excel manual to see which version of Windows is required.
