Using the Scheduling Manager

NOTE-- We replaced the entire MacNail software package with Goldenseal construction management software, back in 2000. Like MacNail, Goldenseal helps remodelers, construction contractors, and other project-based businesses to do accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction project scheduling.

Scheduling Software Manager

This chapter discusses each MacNail Scheduling menu command in detail, using a menu-by-menu format.
Use it as a reference for specific commands-- how to use them, how they work, and any quirks they may have in the MacNail construction scheduling software.

The Scheduling Manager runs MacNail's scheduling functions. It adds special commands to the bottom of the regular Excel menus, along with an additional menu named McN.

NOTE: The names of all MacNail menu commands start with an asterisk (*).

To start the Scheduling Manager:
* Double-click on the MacNail Manager, then click the Schedules button.
-or-
* Open the Schedules folder, then double-click on the Scheduling Manager.

To transfer to the Scheduling Manager from another MacNail module:
* Choose *Schedules from the McN menu.
-or-
* Close the Manager you are currently using, and then open the Scheduling Manager to use the MacNail project management software.

Closing a Manager

You can use the close box (or "go away" box) to leave a Manager. Just before the Manager closes, it will remove all MacNail commands from the menu.

You will usually be asked whether to save changes to the Manager.
* Answer Yes if you want to preserve the setting of dialog box buttons.
* Otherwise, answer No. It makes no functional difference whether you save changes or not, but it goes slightly quicker if you don't save changes.
