New Schedule Types |
NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction software. Like MacNail, it is designed for builders, remodelers and other small businesses. Goldenseal is a complete small business solution that handles accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple project scheduling. In Goldenseal, scheduling information is filled in automatically, as you set up details for a construction project Estimate. Ways to Create New Schedules Click on Project List if you want to create a new schedule from a project list. A project list is an extraction of all construction items in the project, already created from a MacNail estimate in MacNail Estimating. NOTE: Using a project list is much faster than using an estimate, but you should be sure that no changes were made to the original project estimate after the project list was created. Choose From Scratch if you are making a new schedule without a MacNail estimate. You will have to type in each item of work, and its duration. If you want to make tool lists or material takeoffs from the schedule, you will also have to type in unit quantities and MacNail construction item code numbers. This is more work than most people can stand, except on very small or very simple projects. The new schedule will be put in the Current Schedules folder. If the source was an estimate or a project list, the schedule's name will be the project name followed by "Schedule" -- Smith Estimate creates Smith Schedule. If the schedule is created from scratch, the MacNail construction scheduling software will ask you to give it a name. The *New Schedule command automatically checks the Master Index for the project name. If the name is not already listed, MacNail adds the new project name to the Master Index, and assigns it a project code number (see page 125). You can see this code by looking at the Master Index file in the MacNail project management software. For schedules created from an estimate or a project list, each item of work from the original estimate will be listed, with labor units converted to crew-days. Because MacNail estimates are so detailed, you'll have a very good picture of how long each phase of construction will take. Keyboard shortcut: option-command-S. Running time: varies. May take 2 to 6 minutes. |
