Construction Material Take-Offs

NOTE-- MacNail construction software is retired-- in 2000, we replaced it with Goldenseal construction management software. Goldenseal is a complete business management package that handles simple construction project scheduling, accounting, construction estimating, and project management. Goldenseal has two Bill of Materials reports, that work the same as the MacNail material takeoffs.

Material Takeoffs Tutorial

As work proceeds on a project, you will need to order materials, and get the right tools onto the job site.

The MacNail construction scheduling software allows you to make material takeoffs and tool lists for any part of the project (or for the whole project), on an "as needed" basis. You can order for as many items, or as few items, as you want.

Any schedule that came from a MacNail estimate or a project list is capable of creating a material takeoff list and a tool list.

To make a material takeoff list from a schedule:

1. Drag the mouse through all the rows in the schedule for which you'd like to order materials.
2. Choose *Material Takeoff from the Data menu.
3. A dialog box will appear. Choose Current Selection, and click OK.
4. The takeoff list will be created automatically. The process may take several minutes, depending on the number of items and the speed of your computer.
