NOTE-- We
retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with
Goldenseal construction estimating
software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail
users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated
program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing.
Material Item Codes for Estimates 8. The new line item code system will be added as a column
heading in the Item Code Master. Beneath it, fill in the new item code for each line item.
NOTE: If you have added any new item codes to any files in the MacNail construction
management software, make
sure their item codes are also entered into the table under the MacNail column, and enter the new
codes
for
them in the column of
the new item code.
9. When all item codes are entered, bring the file used in step 1 to the front again.
10. Choose Code Systems from the Data menu.
11. You'll be asked which code systems to change. Click 'Item codes', then click
OK.
12. You'll be shown a dialog box asking you to assign an item code system. If the current item
code for the file is already defined as 'MacNail', skip to step 14. Otherwise, choose
MacNail from the list, then click OK.
13. Repeat steps 10 to 12.
14. Choose the new line item code system from the list, then click OK. All of the item codes in the
file will be converted to the new item code system. When the process is finished, check to make sure
it was successful, then save the file.
15. Open every other file that uses the old item code system, and repeat steps 10-14. This will include
all of your estimators, any estimates that you want to move prices from, any Price Masters, and any
Assemblies files you may have.
