Moving Items from an Estimate

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal also includes accounting, job costing and payroll, plus some project management features. There are no manual transfers of prices needed, in Goldenseal.

Moving new items from an estimate to a Price Master

If you've flagged some new or changed items while preparing a project estimate, it's easy to move them to your permanent price database in the MacNail construction management software.

To move prices from an estimate to a Price Master:

1. Choose Move Prices from the Data menu.
2. In the dialog box, describe exactly how you'd like to move prices. In this case, move prices from An Estimate to the MacNail Price Master. Turn on Use flagged items only, Insert new items not already in destination, and all items under Update existing.
NOTE: If you are using an estimator to store unit prices, move items to An estimator. If you are using more than one Price Master, choose a Price Master. You'll be asked to select one after step 3.
3. If the estimate is not already open, you'll be asked to choose an estimate to use as a source. Click on the desired estimate file, then click OK.
4. The rest of the price-moving process is fully automatic. The time it takes depends on the number of items moved and the speed of your computer. See pages 221-223 for more about this command.
