Customizing Files

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. It's easy to change assemblies in Goldenseal.

Legal Aspects of Customized Files

All MacNail files are fully protected under U.S. and foreign copyright laws.

The use you make of MacNail project estimating software files in your business is also limited by our License Agreement, which is printed on the disk envelope (additional copies available upon request). In a nutshell, our License Agreement allows you to use our program (and files created with it) on one computer at a time.

You may not distribute MacNail files on disk to outside parties without our express written permission.

NOTE: Distributing printouts of MacNail bids, proposals, billing and invoicing in the normal course of your business is fine, of course.

Any custom estimators or other files that you create using MacNail Customizing are considered to be derived works under copyright law. They receive the same copyright protection as regular MacNail construction estimating files-- it is illegal for you to give them away, sell them, or distribute them to any outside parties without our express written permission.

Turtle Creek Software distributes customized and regional estimators to other owners of our software programs. We pay a royalty, flat fee, or percentage to their creators, for those we haven't written ourselves. If you've developed a custom estimator or a price database that you'd like us to distribute for you, please contact us!
