Subcontractor Cost Data

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It also tracks subcontractor expenses, and also warns you if their insurance is expired.

Entering Data

The columns of the Subcontractor Log are handled similarly to those in the other Logbooks in the MacNail construction accounting software.

Job Number

Enter the job number in the job# column. Use the categories from the Master Index. You can check the job name in the jobsite column to make sure you entered the proper code number.

Subcontractor Number

Enter the subcontractor number in the sub# column. Use the code numbers for each subcontractor, as found in the Master Index. You can check the subcontractor name in the who? column to make sure you entered the proper code number.

Dates

Enter the invoice date, data entry date, or the date that the work was performed into the date column. If you are using accrual accounting, use the date that the work was performed.

NOTE: A handy shortcut --type command-hyphen to enter today's date.

Item of Work

Enter a brief description of the actual work done in the item of work column. This description is not necessary for actual job costing, but you will find it useful if you ever need a detailed look at the job costs.
