Project Tracking |
Project Progress Percentages The numbers you enter into the pct done column should be based on your best estimate of the actual percentage of completion for each item in the project. NOTE-- Goldenseal construction accounting software uses a similar system for progress payments on projects. Goldenseal was released in 2000, and replaces MacNail accounting. The percentages should be based on the actual dollars that have gone through the posting process. If materials have been invoiced to the project and have already been posted, figure a percentage even if no labor has been done yet. If the work has been completed, but you have not yet posted all items to the job, then reduce the estimated completion to reflect the costs that are still outstanding. Your
estimated percentage of each item does not need to be highly accurate. Since you are breaking costs
down in such detail, small errors in each item will tend to 'round out'. You should get a reasonable
estimate for the total project cost tracking, even if individual items vary by a considerable
percentage--as
long as they aren't
all off in the same direction! |
