Payroll Employee Index

Version 3.4 of the MacNail Accounting software adds a new Employee Index file, where you can store detailed information about each of your employees. For payroll purposes, this data will be used instead of the payroll information stored in the Master Index file.

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction payroll software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It stores payroll info in Employee accounts, instead of the Employee Index.

Because payroll withholding methods vary from state to state, each state has its own Employee Index.

To start using a new Employee Index in the MacNail payroll software, follow these steps:

1. Put your state's Employee Index file into the Current Accounts folder (located inside your Accounts folder).
2. Choose Payroll Options from the Options menu, and turn on the 'Use Employee Index' checkbox.
3. Check the current Employee Index that is being used (in the example above, the current Employee Index is 'Ca Employee Index'). If the correct Employee Index is already listed there, there is nothing more that you need to do. If it is not there, continue to the next step.
4. To change the current Employee Index, click the Change button next to the name of the current Employee Index.
5. Select the new Employee Index to use, then click OK.
