Cost Control Options

When you choose this command, you will see a dialog box:

Use Logs for

Put a check beside the items that will use Logbooks for job cost information. All other items will be job costed from Ledgers instead.

NOTE-- MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software in 2000. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features.

Set these check boxes to your preferred conditions before starting with MacNail Cost Control.

If you later decide to change your method of job costing, make sure all items have been posted to Job Cost Control worksheets and Profit and Loss Reports before making the change. Otherwise you may double-post or miss some items.

WARNING: If you change your method of job costing, do not use Check previous postings until you have switched over to completely new Ledgers and Logbooks.

Alert for Missing files

Put a check next to this item if you would like to be alerted if a Job Cost Control worksheet cannot be found for a project.

Check previous postings

Put a check next to this item if you would like the MacNail construction accounting software to double-check all items that have already been posted (see page 130).

Post to previous year's P&L

Put a check next to this item if you would like to post to Monthly P&L (profit and loss) worksheets from previous years. Otherwise, such items will be skipped.

Save everything after updating

Put a check next to this item if you would like to save all changes immediately after posting to Cost Control or P&L worksheets.

Leave it unchecked if you prefer to save manually.

WARNING: If you leave this item unchecked, be sure to save changes to all files, or else close all files without saving changes. Otherwise you may cause errors.

*Fix Menus

This command is identical to *Fix Menus in MacNail Accounting (see page 176).
