Make this a Main File

Choose *Make this a Main File to turn the active file (the front-most window) into the main file.

The MacNail construction accounting software "remembers" one main file for each type of accounting file (Ledger, Labor Log, Material Log, Subcontractor Log, Misc Log).

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction accounting software replaced MacNail in 2000. It's an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. Goldenseal has much better data management, with all your company info in a single accounting file.

When you choose *Open Main Files from the FILE menu, you can open any or all of the main files. If you choose one of the files in the McN menu, the main file will be opened unless another file of that type is already open.

Notice that the main files in the Accounting Manager can be different from those in the Cost Control Manager. If you change main files in the Accounting Manager, you will probably want to finish updating all job costs before you change the main files in the Cost Control Manager.
