Checkbook Ledger

The Checkbook Ledger

The MacNail construction accounting software handles all money transactions in your business through one of the Checkbook Ledgers. You will create a different Ledger for each bank account (see page 64).

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It includes Banking transactions, which are similar to MacNail Ledgers.

For this tutorial, we will work with the Sample Ledger. This has been set up as the 'main' ledger--the ledger that will be used if no other ledger has been specified. Later on, you will create your own Checkbook Ledger and use it as your 'main' ledger (see page 64).

The Sample Ledger is a full Ledger, with room for job cost categories, and 'lookups' for job names and payees. The MacNail construction management software also can include Quick Ledgers, which have fewer columns (see page 54).

To open the Sample Ledger, click on the MACNAIL menu (McN, located on the far right part of the menu bar) and choose *Checkbook Ledger.

We have already entered a few sample items into the Sample Ledger.
