Construction demolition unit cost for removal of tongue and groove board subflooring, wall sheathing or roof sheathing.

Unit Size

One square foot of subflooring or sheathing.

Labor Costs

We figure that an skilled worker can remove about 66 square feet of subflooring per hour, with some help from an unskilled worker. The price includes hauling the boards to a dump truck or dumpster.

The price does not include removal of joists, tipping fees or the cost of removing materials from the jobsite.

NOTE-- We have carpenters doing this demolition, mainly because that is what tends to happen on smaller remodeling projects. If you have a dedicated crew for demolition of larger gut/rehab projects, you can probably reduce the labor time per foot, and change the wage rate from carpenter to laborer time.

Material Costs

We consume one wrecking bar for every 500 square feet of framing demolition. This cost covers lost and damaged tools, gloves, dust masks and other incidental expenses for the demolition work.
