Floor Framing Removal Cost

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction demolition unit cost for removal of 2x10 wood floor joists.

Unit Size

One square foot of floor framing.

Labor Costs

We figure that an skilled worker can remove about 125 square feet of 2x10 wood floor framing per hour, with some help from an unskilled worker. The price includes hauling the wood to a dump truck or dumpster.

The price does not include removal of finished flooring, subflooring, tipping fees or the cost of removing materials from the jobsite.

The cost will be about the same for other types of wood floor framing (ranging from 2x6 joists to 2x12 joists or wood truss beams).

NOTE-- We have carpenters doing this demolition, mainly because that is what tends to happen on smaller remodeling projects. If you have a dedicated crew for demolition, you can probably reduce the labor time per foot, and change the wage rate from carpenter to laborer time.

Material Costs

We consume one wrecking bar for every 500 square feet of framing demolition. This cost covers lost and damaged tools, gloves, dust masks and other incidental expenses for the demolition work.
