Stone Foundation Repair Cost |
Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION Construction estimating unit cost for repairing deteriorated mortar joints on the exterior face of an existing stone foundation in "average" condition. This cost includes scraping out the old loose mortar and refilling joints with fresh mortar. Unit Size One square foot. Labor Costs We figure about 33 square feet of foundation repair per hour for a skilled mason, with a little unskilled help. Material Costs Mortar raw materials. Suggested Quantity Goldenseal suggests the exterior foundation wall area that is above grade (calculated from the foundation perimeter and the floor height above grade). Source of Construction Pricing Based on crew timing from several projects done by Turtle Creek Construction. This cost is for local field stone foundations in "average" condition (about 50% deteriorated mortar joints). The cost will be quite a bit higher for badly deteriorated stonework that requires deep filling of the the joints, if you are chipping out sound mortar before repointing, or if the stones are unusually small with many additional joints. The cost will be lower for trimmed stonework or very large stones with fewer mortar joints.
