Box Sill Framing Cost

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction estimating unit cost for installing a treated wood 2x8 box sill on a block foundation wall.

This cost includes pre-installation of j-bolts imbedded in concrete fill placed in the block cavities on approximately 3 foot spacing.

Unit Size

One lineal foot of sill framing.

Labor Costs

We figure an unskilled worker can install about 10 feet of sill per hour, with help from a skilled carpenter doing the framing layout (33 lineal feet of sill per hour).

Material Costs

For the j-bolts- one bolt every 3 feet, with some ready-mix concrete to fill the block cavities (one cubic yard of concrete per 250 lineal feet of wall).

NOTE-- If you are installing a small quantity of sill you'll probably hand-mix concrete from raw materials or bag mix. In that case you may want to increase the unskilled labor cost for this item.

For the sill- two feet of 2x8 treated lumber per foot, with a 10% waste factor.
