Basement Wall Framing Cost

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction estimating unit cost for 2x4 framing. Usually this applies to interior partitions, but you might also use it for exterior walls if you want to use fiberglass insulation, or if you need the extra space for utilities.

Unit Size

One lineal foot of wall.

Labor Costs

We figure about 5 1/2 lineal feet of wall framing per carpenter hour, plus a little unskilled help.

Material Costs

We figure 0.85 studs per foot of wall (16" centers with a little extra for irregular spacing), plus a double top and bottom plate (the bottom member uses treated lumber).

We also assume attachment to the floor with .22 cartridge nails.

Suggested Quantity

Goldenseal suggests the length of interior basement walls from the Basic Dimensions screen. You'll need to adjust this quantity if you are also using 2x4 framing on exterior walls.

Source of Construction Pricing

Based on job costing data from several basement remodeling projects done by Turtle Creek Construction.
