2x2 Basement Wall Framing Cost

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction estimating unit cost for 2x2 framing applied to a basement masonry wall using .22 cartridge nails.

NOTE-- This is a variable-height unit cost that multiplies some quantities by the actual basement wall height (from the Basic Dimensions screen) and basement stud spacing (from the Structural Dimensions screen).

Unit Size

One lineal foot of wall.

Labor Costs

We figure about 6 1/2 lineal feet of wall per carpenter hour, plus a little unskilled help.

Material Costs

10 feet of 2x2 lumber per foot of wall plus a few shim shingles and .22 cartridge nails. This assumes an 8 foot ceiling height, with 16" spacing, top and bottom plates and a little extra for corners, windows etc.

NOTES-- The material cost actually assumes 2x4 lumber ripped on site. You can substitute 10 feet of purchased 2x2 for the 5 feet of 2x4, at a slightly higher material cost and a slightly lower labr cost. If you are concerned about wall attachment, you might want to add a little construction adhesive-- either as part of this assembly, or as a separate line item.

Suggested Quantity

Goldenseal suggests the length of exterior basement walls from the Basic Dimensions screen.

Source of Construction Pricing

Based on job costing data from several basement remodeling projects done by Turtle Creek Construction.
