Category and Account Numbers

Can I use a code number, instead of a category or account name?

Sure. If you prefer to use customer numbers for data enter instead of names, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Customers from the Accounts menu.
  2. Use the scroll controls or the Find command to locate a customer account.
  3. Enter the account number at the beginning of the Account Name field. HINT-- if you also include the customer's name after the number, it will be easier to catch data entry mistakes.
  4. In the Full Name field, put the full customer name, as you'd like it to appear on bills and other transactions.

You can also use account numbers for any other type of account used in Goldenseal accounting software, and for Cost Items, Assemblies, Cost Categories and any other items that appear in clairvoyant fields.

HINT-- Instead of numbers, consider using initials (for example, you could enter Petercamp Painting as PP Petercamp Painting, and then type just two letters to enter them). Most people will remember letters more easily than code numbers, and they are just as fast to type in.
