Payroll Tax Payments |
Problem Payroll taxes don't show in the Pay Bills window for Goldenseal payroll software program. Diagnosis 1. Check the Tax Item. Must have payee account filled in there. If they added the account recently, previous payroll items will still not have tax due since the tax payment is posted when they use the Write Payroll command in Goldenseal payroll software. 2. Try a later cutoff date in the Pay Bills window. The tax may not be due yet. 3. Check status for the "pay to" Other Cost account-- if Inactive or Closed, taxes for that account won't be listed. Solution If they added tax "paid to" recently, it will be a pain to go back and redo payroll posting, to catch the taxes due. Probably easier to calculate the tax balance by their previous method, and then enter a simple Other Cost transaction for that amount. At least Goldenseal will track amounts in the future. NOTE-- Current versions of Goldenseal payroll software will give you the option to automatically transfer unpaid payroll taxes to the new account, if you change the "pay to" account for a Payroll Tax Item.
