Reposting Job Costs for One Project

Problem

cc posting entirely screwed up for one job, mismatch between ledger/ log and cost control worksheet. Wants to re-post everything to one or more cost control sheets in MacNail construction accounting software.

Diagnosis

When #s are hopelessly screwed up-- could be caused by:
• cc file being closed without saving (make sure 'save after posting' is on)
• bomb or power outage in the middle of saving files after cc posting
• restoring from differently-dated backups from MacNail construction accounting software
• user typed #'s into the cc sheet, or erased a number there manually
• code change problems (xl 4+)

Solution

1. clear the cc column for that job in all Ledgers and Logs. Can use Sort Special in any Log, or Find in any Ledger or Log, to get to items for the job.
2. trash the cc file and make a new one. 2A. can also erase data columns in the cc sheet, but that takes a lot more time and care, so avoid if possible!!
3. repost. This whole process is a pain but should only take 1/2 hr or less.

Stress the desirebility of turning on the 'automatically save after posting' option in Job Cost Options. If it is on, the only possible way that cc posting can break is if it bombs or loses power in the middle of saving files at the end, a very unlikely (although not impossible) event.
