Sorting Accounting Records

Sometimes you will want to see your Reports, Ledgers or Logbooks arranged with similar items grouped together.

Choose *Sort Special from the DATA menu to use the the MacNail construction accounting software to sort your accounting files into the desired groupings.

WARNING: Sorting a Ledger may throw off your check number sequence (see page 104).

Choose the type of Sort you would like from the dialog box. For example, you may want to have all items for each job number grouped together. Click on the By Job Number button, put a check next to Ascending Order, and click OK.

Your accounting file will be sorted, with job numbers in ascending order.

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It also has a Sort command for any type of records.
