Macro Errors

Problem

getting macro errors while using MacNail construction estimating software and construction accounting software

Diagnosis

Unless a known bug, the best bet is to replace the Manager with the original from the floppy. See notes below.
To find known macro errors, do a find for the cell ref (B45 etc) in 'problem'
• if manager is protected, unprotect manager (only in Managers before '92).
• low memory situation may cause macro errors
• MAKE SURE THE MANAGER ISN'T HIDDEN! (XL 3 and newer)

Solution

• if they replace the manager and still get the error, and MacNail vsn >= 3, it is probably a bug. Get the address of the cell, how error was obtained, etc.
If real mystery macro errors, may need to try replacing Excel.
If programmer available, check code to see if it may be a bug.

Search tech answers for the error location (e.g. H10). Search Tech Calls database to see if there was a previous problem at this cell-- you may find a solution there.

NOTE-- This answer applies to MacNail construction software, which is now retired. It has been replaced by Goldenseal estimating software and accounting software for Macintosh and Windows.

Comments

H10 error MacNail Mgr-- see item #10
NOTE 1-- installing just the manager is pretty easy with recent versions of MacNail Installer-- you can click Custom and install just the Manager.
NOTE 2-- Excel 4 has a weird 'code changing' bug where a line of code in the manager changes at random. Most macro errors with recent Managers are caused by this, as are most mystery problems of any kind.
