Showing File Extensions |
Problem here's how to force Microsoft Windows to show file name extensions, so you can rename files where XL7 has gratuitously added an .XLS to the file name for MacNail construction estimating & accounting software, and won't show you suffix for file name NOTE-- This answer applies to our retired MacNail construction software, which has since been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software and construction accounting software for Macintosh and Windows. Solution Windows 95--From Start button, choose Programs. Choose Windows Explorer submenu. From View Menu, choose Options. Click the View tab. Turn off the option labeled "Hide MS Windows File extensions for file types that are registered" Windows 98- in MS Explorer click Tools, Folder Options, View. Turn off "Hide file extensions " Windows 2000 and Windows XP-- Click Start button, choose Settings, choose Control Panels. Double-click on Folder Options. Click the View tab. Turn OFF the checkbox for "Hide File Extensions for known file types" Windows Vista and Windows 7-- Click Start button, choose Settings, choose Control Panels. Click Appearance and Personalization. Click Folder Options. Click the View tab. Turn OFF the checkbox for "Hide Extensions for known file types " Here is another link that also has instructions for setting windows file extensions .
