Can't Type into a Cell

Problem

I try to type into a cell and it just beeps at me!
Can't enter anything into any cell within worksheets used by MacNail construction estimating software or construction accounting software

Diagnosis

If user gets a msg saying "locked cells cannot be changed", they have to unprotect the doc first. Give usual discalimer about working on unprotected docs. Cells that are protected in MacNail probably should NOT be changed anyhow.

Could also be very weird problem that crops up about once a year with XL: you can't even enter anything into a new worksheet! Restart and sometimes re-install fixes the problem. Possibly also memory problem?

NOTE-- This answer applies to our retired MacNail construction software, which we retired in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal estimating software and accounting software.

Solution

Unprotect.
