When to Use BidMagic

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software program in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction bidding software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software program manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Use BidMagic as bidding software to create a finished bid in any of the following situations:

  • You are bidding competitively as a general contractor or as a subcontractor.
  • You want to figure a final budget price for one of your own projects, or a project you are proposing to a bank or a group of investors.
  • You want to compute a final contract price for a design-build project, or a project where you are the only bidder.
  • You are in any other situation where you need a high-accuracy estimate for construction work.

You can also use BidMagic as a 'front end' for the MacNail construction estimating software, if you are using MacNail's integrated estimating, scheduling and job costing features. This is especially useful in any of the following situations:

  • You are doing a remodeling project, and want to dimension the project on a 'room by room' basis.
  • You are using BidMagic already for planning, budgeting or client communications.
  • You are estimating or bidding a small project that only involves a few items of work, and don't want to use a full MacNail estimator, but do want to tie the project into scheduling and job costing.
