Estimating Room Types

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software program in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software program manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Room Name

The BidMagic construction estimating software lets you identify each room with whatever name you'd like--simply type in a name of up to 30 characters.

The room name shows up in the Rooms menu, and in the pop-up menu in the Rooms button on the Dimensions card. You'll also be able to find the room by name when you choose Go To Room from the Rooms menu.
The room name is also displayed on the Room Report (see page 338)

Story and Room Type

Click the story on which the room is located.

NOTE: If the room is on the third story or higher, click the 3+ button.

Use the cycle button to select the room type. If the room is a Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom or Laundry Room, choose the matching type. Otherwise, choose Other.

NOTE: A 'half' bath should be treated as a full bathroom. To handle the 'missing' tub or shower, simply enter fewer fixtures on the Plumbing Finish card in Specifications.

Click on Existing Room if the room is already there, and you are just making changes to it (even if the change includes complete demolition of the old structure). Click on New Room if you are building a new room completely from scratch.

NOTE: If you are adding new construction to an existing room, treat it as two separate rooms.
