Room by Room Estimating

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software program in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software program manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

If you selected Remodeling as the construction type for your project, the project will be handled on a 'room by room' basis, using Room cards to describe each individual room in the construction project.

NOTE: If you selected some other type of construction, the Room cards will not be visible.

Before working with room cards, use the Dimensions Directory card to set the number of rooms that will be worked on as a part of the project (see page 179).

Selecting a Room

Each room in the project has its own Room card. Most of the information on the Room Card is shown in 'exploded room' diagrams. Each surface of the room is displayed on its own rectangle, almost as if the room were unfolded like a cardboard box.

To browse through each room card in sequence, use the Right Arrow and Left Arrow buttons at upper right.

To jump to a specific room from the Dimensions directory, click the Rooms button at the bottom of the Dimensions card, and hold down the mouse button. A list of all available rooms will 'pop up.' Select one of the rooms--when you release the mouse button, you'll go to that room.

To jump to a specific room from anywhere in the BidMagic remodeling estimating software, choose its name from the Rooms menu.

NOTE: Only the first 30 rooms will be displayed in the Rooms menu and the pop-up menu from the Dimensions directory. To get to rooms after the thirtieth, choose Go To Room from the Rooms menu, and type in the room number or room name (see page 421).
