Estimating Concrete Piers

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Piers & Pilings

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes a section for concrete piers and pilings.

Turn on this choice if you'll be using any 'vertical' foundation structures. They might consist of any of the following:

  • Poured concrete piers, whether formed or unformed.
  • Driven wood or steel pilings.
  • Treated wood poles for 'pole barn' construction.
  • Treated lumber supports for porches or decks.

Enter the average height above grade for the piers or pilings. Usually this will be a positive number, but if the piers or pilings end below grade, enter a negative number. Also enter the average depth below grade for the piers or pilings, measured from ground level to the bottom of the pier or piling. If you are using multiple depths, take a weighted average.

For poured concrete piers or pilings, enter the average diameter, in inches.

Also enter the total number of piers or pilings that will be used.

NOTE: If you are using more than one type of pier or piling, enter measurements for the type that makes up the larger portion of the project cost. The remaining items can still be entered in Specifications--you'll just have to specify their quantities and dimensions there instead of having them 'suggested' for you.
