Estimating Living Units

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software program in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software program manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Number of Units

Enter the number of living units and/or businesses that will be in the construction project. For a single-family residence (or single-business project), enter 1. For a duplex, enter 2. For a multi-unit project, enter the number of living units and/or business establishments.

NOTE: If your construction estimate includes work on just some units in a multi-unit building, enter only the number of units that will actually have work done to them.

Multi-Unit Type

Use the cycle button at upper right to indicate the basic setup for the unit(s) on which you are working.

NOTE: This choice is not available for single-unit new construction.

Click Single Unit if working on a building that contains just one living unit or business. This choice is not available if the number of units is greater than 1.

Click Townhouse if the building contains more than one side-by-side unit.

Click Stacked if the building contains more than one unit arranged on top of one another.

NOTE: If the project contains both side-by-side and stacked units, click whichever choice describes the largest number of units.
