Payroll Setup

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction payroll software is the successor to MacNail, which we retired in 2000. Goldenseal is an integrated business management program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus construction cost estimating, contract writing and simple scheduling. It uses Employee accounts to store information about each employee.

Employee Exemptions

If you use the MacNail construction accounting software for payroll, enter the exemptions claimed by each employee into the Exemptions (exempt) column. For a single employee, enter the number of deductions claimed on the W-4 form. For a married employee add TEN to the number of exemptions claimed on the W-4 form (this is for coding purposes). For example, a married employee with 3 exemptions will have 13 entered in the LZ column.

Workman 's Compensation Rates

If you pay a different Workman's Comp rate for each employee, enter the rate in this column. It should be entered as a percentage--If you are paying at the rate of $18 per $100 of payroll, type .18 into the WC Rate column.
If you pay Workman's Comp at one flat rate for your whole payroll, or if you pay by the type of work performed, ignore this column.

You should also use *Payroll Options, from the OPTIONS menu, to set the method of computing Workman's Comp (see page 63 and 176).

Material Suppliers

Type in the names of each of your material suppliers. The code number for each supplier is the number in the same row, in the code column (far left).
