Labor Job Cost Info

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction payroll software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. Labor Hours records in Goldenseal are very similar to the MacNail Labor Log.

Employee Number

Enter the employee number (as found in the Master Index) into the emp# column. You can check the employee name in the who? column to make sure you entered the proper code number.

Dates

Enter the date that the work was done in the date column.

NOTE: A handy shortcut--type command-hyphen to enter today 's date.

Item of Work

Enter a brief description of the work done in the item of work column. This description is not necessary for actual job costing, but you will find it useful if you ever need a detailed look at the labor that goes into any project.

Employee Hours

Enter the number of hours taken on the item into the hrs column.

construction Category

Type a construction category code into the cat column. For items that will be assigned to a job, use the letter or number code from the Summation level of MacNail estimates. See page 69 for more about categories.

NOTE: If you are using more than one category system on different jobs (for example, CSI and MacNail, or MacNail 2.2 and MacNail 3.0), be careful to use the correct category codes for the project.

Subcategory

If you are tracking job costs using Clearinghouse subcategories, enter a subcategory code into the sub column. Otherwise, you can leave this column blank.

Total, Who?, Jobsite

The MacNail construction accounting software calculates the total labor cost (including employer 'burden') and displays it in the total column. The employee name will be shown under who, and the job name will be shown under jobsite. If any seem incorrect, go back to the corresponding code entry cell, and change the entry.

NOTE: If the proper payee is not being 'looked up', the row may already have had its 'lookup formula' removed when new rows were added. See page 165 for instructions on replacing the formula.
