Adding a Deposit

To deposit a $4000 check from the Smith job:

1. Click the mouse anywhere in the next blank line.
2. Choose *Ledger Items from the EDIT menu, click on Deposit, and click OK. A new line will be created automatically.
3. Type 4000 into the deposit column. Note that the MacNail construction accounting software adjusts the running total column automatically.
4. Click in the job column, and type 11 (the number of the Smith project). 'Smith' should appear in the jobsite column when you hit Enter or leave the cell.
5. Click in the date column, and enter today's date with command-hyphen.
6. You won't have to enter any payee codes in the type and no. columns, nor job cost categories in the cat. and subcat. column, since they don't apply to deposits.Checkbook Ledger

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. Goldenseal includes a Deposit Funds command, that automatically creates deposits.
