These instructions
will help you to use the new features we have added in
the MacNail Accounting 3.3 and 3.4 upgrades.
NOTE-- In 2000, we replaced MacNail with Goldenseal construction
accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program
that includes general accounting, job costing,
payroll and project billing, plus estimating
and other features. We retain this Manual for
die-hard users of our original MacNail software!
Accounting 3.4 (released 1/93) adds
the following improvements:
*It speeds up the creation of Labor, Material, Subcontractor and Financial Reports by the MacNail accounting
software, and makes it easier to create Labor Reports for pay periods other than the most
recent one.
*It gives you more choices when setting Payroll Options (see pages 2--6). You can now set the actual payday
as either a day of the week, or as a certain number of days before or after the close of the pay period.
*It makes working with State Payroll Blanks easier (see pages 7-9). If you have employees living in more than
one state and need to use two different State Payroll Blanks, you can now switch between different State Payroll Blanks
very quickly.
*It now includes an Employee Index file that does a much better job of handling state payrolls that require
unusual information. It now also handles differences between the number of federal and state exemptions, advanced payments
of the Earned Income Credit, and additional withholding amounts from line 6 of the W-4 Form. The new Employee Index
also allows you to job cost using a 'billing' wage rate that is different from what you actually pay your
employees (see pages 9-12).
*It speeds up the creation of Payroll Reports, and lets you make a Payroll Report 'from scratch', even if
you haven't previously made a Labor Report for the pay period (see pages 13-14).
*It automatically creates new employee Payroll Files at the start of each new year, and correctly tracks each
year's payments based on the payday, rather than the close of the pay period. It also allows you to update your
payroll files even if the Payroll Report is out of sequence, and allows you to file amended and supplemental Payroll
Reports (see pages 14-17).
*It prints W-2 and 1099 forms if you use Excel 2.2 or greater (see pages 18-22).
Accounting 3.3 (released 9/91)
adds the following improvements:
*It makes MacNail Accounting fully compatible with Excel 4.0 and System 7.0.
*It adds check printing if you use Excel 2.2 or greater (see pages 23-31).
*It offers an improved method of sorting accounting worksheets (see page 31). |
