Include Dates in Report File Names

If you make frequent reports that you would like to save indefinitely, put a check next to this item. Each report file name will include today's date--a labor report will be called Labor Report 2/15/90, for example.
If you date your reports, you may want to 'tidy up' occasionally and throw out old reports. Having too many of them will consume disk space and slow down some operations.

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction accounting software replaced MacNail in 2000. It's an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features.

If you don't often save reports, leave this item unchecked--a labor report will simply be called Labor Report, replacing the most recent Labor Report unless you save the report under another name.

In either case, you can use Save As to make a duplicate of reports you would like to save for the long term in the MacNail construction accounting software. You can also create an archives folder, and use it to hold reports that are worthy of long-term storage.

Save everything after posting

Put a check next to this item if you would like to save all changes immediately after posting to Ledgers, or updating payroll files.

Leave it unchecked if you prefer to save manually.

WARNING: If you leave this item unchecked, be sure to save changes to all files, or else close all files without saving changes. Otherwise you may cause errors.
