Accounting Troubleshooting

Macro Error at Cell

If you run into a 'bug', or if you halt a macro by typing Command-period, you will be presented with an Excel macro error box.

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It does not require Excel, and has much better handling of errors.

In most cases you should click Halt, and close all worksheets without saving changes.

If you get a macro error several times, and can't seem to find an error in the files that are being worked on, please let us know--it may be a logical or typographic 'bug' that we will want to correct. We want to make MacNail as perfect as possible!

Menu items are grey

Press the ENTER or RETURN keys--you may just be in 'formula entry' mode, which disables most menu commands in the MacNail construction accounting software.

Choose *Fix Menus from the OPTIONS menu. Choose Unprotect Document from the OPTIONS menu. Many of the Excel commands are disabled when a protected document is active.

Message is still displayed

If a macro is interrupted, it does not have the opportunity to 'clean up' the message bar. You can do this yourself: type Option-Command-C (for 'Clear').
