Construction estimating unit cost for installation of log walls built with local sawn logs.

Unit Size

One square foot of horizontal wall area.

Labor Costs

We figure that a crew of one skilled worker and one unskilled worker can install about 12 1/2 square feet of log wall per hour.

This cost includes log selection, debarking and placement.

Material Costs

The cost includes 2.4 lineal feet of 5" sawn logs per square foot of wall area, with a 20% waste factor. The cost also includes spike fasteners and self-adhesive foam strips for installation between the logs.
