Foam Wall Sheathing Cost

Construction Item Description

Construction estimating unit cost for installation of foam board wall sheathing materials.

NOTE-- This unit cost is for 3/4" thickness board. For other sheathing thicknesses click here.

Unit Size

One square foot of horizontal wall area.

Labor Costs

We figure that a carpenter can install about 74 square feet of foamboard wall sheathing per hour, with a little help from an unskilled worker.

Material Costs

The cost includes 1 4x8 sheet of foamboard sheathing for every 40 square feet of wall area, plus one 4x8 sheet of plywood for every 166 square feet, with a 10% waste factor. This allows for plywood panels at end walls with foam insulation board for interior fill.

NOTE-- Foam insulation board comes in a variety of sizes, depending on brand. You may need to create assemblies with different material quantities, if the material you use does not come in 4x8 sheets.

Suggested Quantity
