Construction Item Description

Construction estimating unit cost for exterior wall framing built with 2x6 wood studs. This is a "fixed size" unit cost for 16" stud spacing and 12 foot ceiling height.

Unit Size

One lineal foot of wall framing with 12 foot ceilings.

Labor Costs

We figure that a carpenter can frame a little under 6 lineal feet of exterior 2x6 wall per hour.

Material Costs

Each lineal foot of wall includes .95 2x6 wood studs 12 feet length, plus double top and bottom plates and fasteners. There is also an 8% waste factor on the materials.
